After studying Business and Art at Eckerd College in Florida, I moved to Austin, TX and landed my first “Real Job.” I quickly discovered that the 9-5 office life was not for me. After months of going home and launching straight into my hand embroidery projects I took the plunge and purchased a chainstitch machine. At the time, there was little to no information on these machines online so I spent months teaching myself the ins and outs of the machine. Eventually, I was lucky enough to land an apprenticeship with Die Trying, where my knowledge and my love of chainstitch deepened.
Unlike modern embroidery machines, I control each stitch manually, similar to a tattoo gun but with thread! Because every stitch is done by hand, each piece is one of a kind, no two will ever be identical.
